The practical details guests ask about most before they pay, taken from the resort’s official website and guest reviews.
The resort holds a 4.2 out of 5 on Google (5,920 reviews) and an 8.5 out of 10 on Booking.com (2,813 reviews). In recent Google reviews (October 2026), one pattern repeats: the calm and the people.
Booking.com data (2,811 reviews) checked in October 2026; it changes over time.
The resort sits in Uvero Alto, on the northern stretch of the Punta Cana coast, about a 45-minute drive from the airport. That’s the trade-off for the calm: the sand is quieter than farther south, but the distance also matters for tours. Several guests say that, being so far north, they’re often the last ones dropped back at the resort.
The airport transfer is not included in the all-inclusive, so lock in your ride before you fly instead of haggling in a hurry at the airport exit. If you’d rather rent a car, parking at the resort is free.
Check-in is at 3:00 p.m. Early check-in depends on availability and costs extra, but many travelers say the staff holds your bags and you can start enjoying the resort while your room is prepared. At the front desk they’ll often offer you a room upgrade: come in with a clear mind and decide calmly.
Check the transfer options available for your dates, number of passengers and luggage, and organize your arrival at the resort.
The question travelers ask most is whether this is a different resort or just a new name. Here’s the answer: this resort used to be called Jewel Punta Cana. It was completely renovated, reopened in 2025 as Wyndham Alltra, and that same year it added the one thing that’s truly new: its water park.
The rooms were renovated, but the building is the same as before. That detail explains both the good and some of the complaints you’ll read below.
The decision that raises the most questions when booking depends on who’s traveling with you. These are the three options that fit best:
Option 1 · Couples
For anyone who wants to step straight from the room into the water.
About 290 sq ft (27 m²), with a king bed and a grassy patio with two loungers of your own, steps from the pool. It’s the simplest way to solve the resort’s most repeated complaint: loungers saved with towels.
Maximum occupancy: not published in the sources reviewed; confirm it on the booking page.
Tip: request it in the special requests when you book; it’s a request, not a guarantee.
Option 2 · Families with young kids
For families who want practical space.
About 614 sq ft (57 m²) with a king bed, a sofa bed and a sitting area, a bathtub, and a private hot tub on the balcony for when the kids are asleep.
Maximum occupancy: up to 4 guests.
Heads-up: if there are more than four of you, look at the two-bedroom suite.
Option 3 · Big families or friend groups
For those who need to separate spaces.
About 904 sq ft (84 m²), two full bathrooms and a hot tub on the balcony. It’s the roomiest at the resort.
Maximum occupancy: up to 6 guests.
Tip: confirm the bed layout when you book.
Included in every room: free Wi-Fi and a minibar with water, soft drinks and beer. Room service runs 24 hours, but every order carries a $10 delivery fee.

The moment you cross the lobby, the star of the show appears: the pool. It’s huge, free-form, surrounded by palm trees, and the resort itself bills it as one of the biggest in the country. In the reviews it’s one of the most praised things.
Here’s another detail that puts a lot of parents at ease: according to the reviews, it’s shallow for almost its entire length, so kids and non-swimmers can enjoy it without worry.
On the other side is Uvero Alto beach, with golden sand and a bit of surf. Kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel gear are part of the all-inclusive there, with guided outings. What you pay extra for is parasailing, scuba diving and boat rides.
Splash Island sits right next to the main pool, close to the family suites, so you can walk from one to the other. It has 4 water slides, a lazy river to drift along, splash zones for the little ones, and shallow pools, with lifeguards on duty. Next to it is Splash Bites, a food truck so you don’t even have to leave the water for lunch. It opened in the summer of 2025.
One practical detail guests mention: it’s not open all day. It opens around 11 a.m. and closes in the middle of the afternoon, so plan your day around that. The resort doesn’t publish a minimum height for the slides; if you’re traveling with young kids, ask before you go.
Kids also have Camp Alltra, the supervised kids’ club, with its own pool and play area, and teens get an arcade-style game room. The entertainment team runs Zumba, water aerobics, dance classes and cooking demos.
Amana Retreat is the resort’s adults-only area. It includes private check-in, a butler, an exclusive beach area with a concierge, à la carte breakfast and lunch at Costa Azul right on the water, dinner at Brasas, room service at no charge, the VIP lounge at night, a cocktail bar, morning access to the hydrotherapy circuit, and 20 percent off at the spa.
In the reviews, the VIP lounge service gets a lot of praise, though one guest felt the exclusive restaurant doesn’t make that big a difference. Our advice: if you’re traveling as a couple and want a beach spot without hunting for one, it’s worth it; if you’re traveling with kids, it’s not for you. And decide before you travel, not at the front desk.
December through April is the dry season and the most popular in Punta Cana: highs of 81 to 86°F, less humidity and little prolonged rain, but also the highest rates and more crowds. May and June bring short showers and lower prices. July and August are hotter and more humid, with strong demand from school vacations. September and October are the rainiest months, with tropical storms, inside hurricane season (June through November), and also the cheapest. In November, storm activity drops off a lot.
Sargassum doesn’t follow a fixed calendar: it changes from year to year and week to week. If you’re traveling between spring and summer, check the reports before picking your dates.
Everything revolves around Ventanas, the main buffet, which many guests see as the safest bet. At night, none of the à la carte restaurants take reservations: they run on a waitlist, so the advice from people who’ve been is to put your name down early or show up before the rush.
Main buffet, the safest bet according to many guests.
Asian cuisine with sushi and a live teppanyaki table.
Coastal Italian.
Mexican cuisine, the most praised in the reviews.
By day: pizza, burgers and salads at Cosecha, and Dominican coffee at Drips.
Live music at Twisted Olive and games at the Sidelines sports bar.
The days fill up on their own: Zumba, water aerobics, dance classes and cooking demos. At night there’s live music at Twisted Olive, games at Sidelines and shows at the theater. And there’s something nobody expects: a fire show on the beach and a Michael Jackson tribute that one guest described as a real gem.
If you like to keep your routine, the gym is right next to the main pool, with air conditioning, cardio machines, weights and group classes included. In the reviews, guests mention the gym staff by name more than once.
For relaxing, there’s Aura Spa, with a hydrotherapy circuit, saunas, steam rooms and a cold plunge pool. Keep in mind, though, that spa and salon treatments cost extra. And if you’re traveling with kids and want a night to yourselves, the resort offers a babysitting service, also at an extra cost and subject to availability.
Tours outside the resort are not included in the all-inclusive, and from Uvero Alto the best stuff is a ride away: Saona Island by catamaran, buggies through the countryside to Macao Beach, and Scape Park with its cenotes. Whoever leaves them for the front desk pays more, loses the morning standing in line, and finds out that in high season the best ones are already sold out. Before you book, check what each activity includes, whether it offers pickup, its cancellation policy, and whether there’s space for your dates.
Full-day catamaran and speedboat trip with a buffet lunch, according to the activity listing.
Excursion to Scape Park, in Cap Cana, home of the Hoyo Azul cenote.
