Five stars in Cancun does not always mean luxury: some resorts live off their reputation, and others have just reinvented themselves completely. This ranking puts ten 5-star all-inclusive resorts in Cancun in order based on what you get in return: what guests say, what each one really includes and where it falls short. That way you can choose based on how you travel, as a couple, with family or adults-only.
It reopened in April this year after a fifty-million-dollar renovation and kept what everyone recognizes from the boulevard: its pyramids. Inside, almost everything is new, with redesigned suites, new restaurants, a kids' water park called Aquazone and a kids' club. One thing to know before you book: inside the resort there is The Reserve, an adults-only area with its own pool, beach and restaurant, and only guests who pay for that category get in. For a couple looking for calm, that rate difference is what changes the experience; for a family, the resort works very well as it is.
If you are a couple after the adults-only area, confirm your rate includes The Reserve.
Check rates for this resortNext up is a resort where the kids get their own pirate ship.
That pirate ship is the star slide at Aqua Fun, the resort's water park, and it is only part of what it offers families. There are ten pools, including infinity, activity and kids' pools, and Star Camp, its kids' club, takes children from age four up to teenagers. It sits on Delfines Beach with the Nichupté Lagoon behind it, in the southern stretch of the Hotel Zone. A bit of history few people know: it used to be a Hilton, and the Spanish chain bought it and renovated it into what it is today. For families who want the kids never to be bored, it is one of the most complete on the list.
If you plan a dinner out as a couple, add the babysitter to your budget before you book.
Check rates for this resortNow the star is not the beach, but the wine.
It has a cellar with thousands of bottles where sommeliers lead tastings in the afternoons, and wine is the thread running through the whole experience, from the cellar to the table. Its Italian restaurant is called Nebbiolo, like the grape, and that is no accident. It is adults-only and rises as a tower facing the sea, with about five hundred rooms, all with a balcony. There is Italian, Mediterranean and seafood cuisine plus a steakhouse, and the spa, of more than 10,000 square feet, has its own hydrotherapy circuit. The feel is of an elegant, urban resort, more a glass of wine at sunset than a pool party. It suits couples who put a good table above everything else.
If your travel dates are fixed, book it early.
Check rates for this resortUp next is a resort where a bed on the beach has a price.
Balinese beds are included only if you stay in a suite; otherwise they are rented by the day, for about two thousand Mexican pesos. It is a small detail, but it says a lot about how this resort works: here luxury is organized in tiers. It is adults-only, for guests over eighteen, designed for couples and honeymoons, with aromatherapy menus in the rooms and a club floor, Aqua Club, with a butler and a private lounge. It has its own spa, Feel Harmony, and among its restaurants are Italian, seafood, a sushi station and a taqueria. Its location in the heart of the Hotel Zone puts you close to everything. Ideal for couples who enjoy design and details.
If you want a Balinese bed on the beach, check which room category includes it before you book.
Check rates for this resortBefore we get to the rest of the resorts, here is what to do outside the resort.
Tours outside the resort are not part of the all-inclusive plan, and from Cancun you have the best of the peninsula within reach: Chichén Itzá with a cenote on the same day, the catamaran to Isla Mujeres and snorkeling among the sculptures of the underwater museum. If you leave them for the resort desk, you pay more, lose half a morning in line, and in peak season the best ones are already sold out. Book ahead, with free cancellation on many options and hotel pickup.
Full day to Chichén Itzá with a swim in a cenote and a stop in Valladolid, with hotel pickup.
Catamaran sail to Isla Mujeres with food and drinks included, plus time to swim and snorkel.
Chichén Itzá with a cenote, the catamaran to Isla Mujeres and snorkeling at the underwater museum, with hotel pickup on many tours.
Now an adults-only resort where the kitchen never closes.
Its all-inclusive plan runs twenty-four hours, and the Pepe's grill serves all day, something you will appreciate after a long night. It opened in late 2022, so it is one of the youngest on this ranking, and it is strictly for guests over eighteen. There is Japanese, Mexican, Italian and fusion cuisine, several pools and the Renova spa. It sits right across from Plaza La Isla, the best-known shopping center in the Hotel Zone, so going out for dinner or shopping is a matter of crossing the street. Its main restaurant, Don Julio, combines a buffet with a terrace. On Booking it has an 8.8, with more than six hundred reviews. For couples who want the comfort of the brand with no kids around, it is a safe bet.
If you want a quiet, secluded beach, this shops-and-restaurants setting is not the one.
Check rates for this resortHere comes the newest resort on this list.
It debuted in late 2025, between the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupté Lagoon, in the southern stretch of the Hotel Zone, so it has rooms with a view of either one. It does not admit minors, and it has six pools with views and eight restaurants serving French, Mediterranean and Asian cuisine plus a steakhouse, none requiring a reservation. Its higher category adds a rooftop terrace bar and an infinity pool for its guests. Because it is new, it still has few reviews on Booking, although the first ones are very good. For anyone who wants to be the first to stay somewhere new, it is the freshest option in Cancun.
If the spa is part of your plan, confirm it is already running before you book.

Prices vary with your travel dates. Compare the available options before you book.
On Booking it scores a nine, with more than thirteen hundred reviews behind it, and no other resort on this ranking holds such a high score with so many people weighing in. It sits at the northern end of the Hotel Zone, facing the bay and Isla Mujeres, about twenty-five minutes from the airport and very close to the restaurant and nightlife area of Punta Cancún. Its spa, Gem Spa, is among the largest in Cancun. There are heated, infinity and family pools, and its restaurants include Italian, Asian, a steakhouse and Nah K'aax, a taco spot on the beach. It works equally well for families with young kids and for couples who want a Cancun classic that never fails.
If you travel with teenagers, check which activities are meant for them before you book.
Check rates for this resortWe step onto the podium with a resort surrounded by sea on three sides.
It takes the very tip of Punta Cancún, with the Caribbean on three sides, and it used to be called Dreams Cancún until Hyatt renovated and relaunched it. Today it has more than five hundred suites, several restaurants and bars, and even its own craft brewery, Tres Cervezas. It is a resort designed for families, but it keeps a secret for adults: Turquoize, an oceanfront tower for guests over eighteen only, with a rooftop pool that only its guests can use. It has three infinity pools, and the main one stretches along the beach. For food lovers, the Chef's Table serves a tasting menu next to the open kitchen, and the Zen Spa has a hydrotherapy circuit facing the Caribbean.
If you travel without kids, ask for the Turquoize tower when you book: it is the corner that suits you best.
Check rates for this resortAnd now, the resort where your butler draws your bath.
Butler service is part of the rate: your butler unpacks and packs your suitcase, draws you a relaxing bath and stays with you throughout your stay. There are no children, it holds the American Automobile Association's Five Diamond recognition, and on Booking it scores a 9.3. The cuisine is another reason to come: Lumière, serving French fine dining, and Yama, Japanese, lead its offering, with room service at any hour and Bulgari bath amenities. And if you need anything, you ask for it by WhatsApp through its digital concierge: reservations, butler or spa. The fact few people know: the spa's hydrotherapy circuit is included, something many resorts at this level charge extra for. If you want quiet, meticulous attention and zero kids, few places in Cancun do it better.

With your own car you explore Cancun and the surrounding area without depending on transfers. Booking ahead means better availability.
And the winner of this ranking closed to come back better than ever.
It came back in May this year after a complete renovation: all three hundred ten suites, nearly all with a view of the Caribbean, the pool, the beach, the spa and its twelve dining venues. Among the new additions is Bokeh, a speakeasy inspired by the 1920s, with live music and only twenty-three seats. And there is Casa Adelita, serving Yucatecan cuisine, which hosts ten people in a single seating a day. Add to that Olio D'Olivia, an Italian restaurant facing the sea. Here is the key: those experiences are booked through the culinary concierge, and with so few seats it is wise to ask for them the day you arrive. It takes adults only, and with a 9.4 on Booking it is the highest-rated resort on this list.
