The practical details guests ask about most before they pay, taken from the resort's official website and its Google listing.
The resort holds a 4.6 out of 5 on Google (1,493 reviews) and an 8.9 out of 10 on Booking.com (263 reviews). Here is what Google reviewers praise and criticize most, by topic (October 2026):
The number in parentheses is how many mentions each topic has. Topics with few mentions, like the beach, are only indicative. Data from Google reviews checked in October 2026; it changes over time.
From Punta Cana airport it's about a 15-minute drive to Cap Cana, a private community of tropical gardens and wide avenues. The resort sits on Juanillo Beach, in the same complex as Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana.
Two things worth sorting out before you land: the airport transfer is not included in the all-inclusive, so lock in your ride ahead of time instead of haggling at the curb. And if you'd rather rent a car, the rental is on you, but the resort's valet parking is free.
Check-in is at 3:00 p.m. and there's no online early check-in. The front desk often pitches room upgrades, so arrive knowing which suite you want and decide calmly.
Check the transfer options available for your dates, number of passengers and luggage, and organize your arrival at the resort.
Every room here is a suite (375 in total). What changes is the space, the terrace and who each one is built for. These are the three that fit best, based on who's traveling:
Best for families of four who want the practical pick.
About 590 sq ft with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa, plus a balcony and the ocean beyond it. The most practical pick for a family of four.
Sleeps up to 5 (per Booking.com).
Tip: ask for a renovated room when you book.
Best for parents who want a door to close at night.
About 1,240 sq ft with a separate bedroom, a living room with a sleeper sofa for the kids, and a balcony with a private hot tub. Includes butler service and Club Level access.
Sleeps up to 4 (per Booking.com).
Heads-up: it's a step-up category, and Club Level is the most divided part of recent reviews (see the Club section).
Best for stepping off your terrace straight into the pool.
About 590 sq ft with direct access to a semi-private pool. The most requested suite for couples and families with teens.
Sleeps up to 4 (per Booking.com), all guests 13 or older.
Heads-up: guests under 13 aren't allowed. If sleep matters most, ask for a room away from bars and entertainment.
Included in every suite: 24-hour room service. Laundry and dry cleaning cost extra. If you're traveling with a baby, ask the resort about cribs before you book: official sources don't detail their availability.
Check Options for Your Dates →Club Level includes private check-in, its own lounge (the Bosque Lounge), an exclusive pool with a swim-up bar, and à la carte breakfast and lunch at The Chinola. On paper it sounds perfect, but in recent reviews it's the most divided point: some guests love it, and others expected more from the Club breakfast and the Club pool.
The practical advice: if you're going to book it, decide before you travel and compare the total cost of the upgrade against the base category. Deciding at the front desk, with a line behind you, is the worst way to do it.
For a lot of guests, the real reason to pick this resort is Juanillo Beach: white sand, palm trees and turquoise water. In Google reviews the beach is rated very highly, and plenty of travelers point out how well kept it is and how attentive the beach staff is.
Non-motorized water sports, beach volleyball and even a scuba clinic are included. What's not included are the private cabanas, both on the beach and by the pool: those cost extra. If you're traveling with kids and want guaranteed shade all afternoon, ask about them the moment you arrive.
December through April is the dry and most popular season: highs of 80 to 86°F, lower humidity and little prolonged rain, but also the highest rates and the biggest crowds. May and June bring short showers and lower prices. July and August are hotter and more humid, with strong demand from school vacations. September and October see the most rain and tropical storms, inside hurricane season (June to November), and they are also the cheapest months. In November, storm activity drops off considerably.
Sargassum doesn't follow a fixed calendar: it changes from year to year and week to week. And if you travel during spring break, some reviews mention large groups of teenagers.
The big draw for kids is Canapolis. It has a lazy river that runs under a waterfall inside a grotto, big water slides, and a splash zone with water cannons for the little ones. The 47-inch minimum height applies to the big slides, so smaller kids still get plenty to do.
One detail few reviews explain: the water park isn't right on the shore. It's at the back of the property, the farthest point from the beach, so if your kids want to bounce between the ocean and the slides, get ready to walk.
While the kids are at the kids' club, the thing parents praise the most in reviews, the days fill up on their own: dance classes, pool games and, at night, outdoor movies for the whole family. And there's something nobody expects at an all-inclusive: batting cages, where more than one kid ends up spending the whole afternoon.
Important: the water park can close for maintenance, and some families found out when they got there. If it's the reason for your trip, message the resort before you fly and confirm it.
Behind a door most guests never walk through is Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, the adults-only resort next door, the same one travelers just named the best all-inclusive in the Caribbean. According to Ziva's official policy, guests 18 and older can use its facilities, restaurants and bars.
Heads-up: it only works one way. Zilara guests don't get the same access to Ziva.
| Hyatt Ziva | Hyatt Zilara | |
|---|---|---|
| Guests | Families, couples and teens | Adults only |
| Kids | Yes, with a kids' club and a water park | No |
| Access between resorts | Guests 18 and older can use Zilara | They don't get the same access to Ziva |

Everything revolves around El Mercado, the main buffet, with lots of stations. You don't serve yourself here: the staff serves you at every station, and on busy mornings in high season it fills up. At night, none of the à la carte restaurants take reservations: it's first come, first served, so eating early is the key.
Main buffet with lots of stations, served by the staff.
Mongolian grill and teppanyaki tables.
Italian trattoria decorated like an old tailor shop.
Caribbean grill right by the pool.
Fresh food on the beach; Club guests also get breakfast and lunch here.
Twisted Timbers (lobby), Moments (sports bar), Spiritz (swim-up) and Grog Grotto (Dominican rum).
If you don't want to lose your routine, the gym is one of the highest-rated spots at the resort: two cardio areas, strength equipment and studios for zumba and spinning classes, all included.
For the adults, Grog Grotto is a Dominican rum bar with a distillery vibe. And the space that surprises people the most is underground: Larimar Spa, inspired by a cenote, with a lagoon lit from above and the first Himalayan salt room in the country. Fair warning: spa and beauty treatments are not part of the all-inclusive.
And one thing that puts any parent's mind at ease: the resort has a doctor available 24 hours a day.
Excursions are not included in the all-inclusive, and from Cap Cana the best ones are very close. Wait until you're at the front desk and you'll pay more, lose your morning standing in line, and may find the best ones sold out in high season. Before you book, check what each activity includes, whether it offers pickup, its cancellation policy, and availability for your dates.
Full-day catamaran and speedboat trip with a buffet lunch, per the activity listing.
Excursion to Scape Park in Cap Cana, home of the Hoyo Azul cenote.
Check the tours and activities available for your dates.
So there are no surprises when you arrive, this is what the official website leaves outside the all-inclusive:

Check-in is at 3:00 p.m. and check-out is at 11:00 a.m. There is no online early check-in.

According to Booking.com, the Junior Suite Double sleeps up to 5, and the Club One Bedroom Master Suite and the Junior Suite Swim-Up (ages 13 and up only) sleep up to 4. Hyatt's official site doesn't detail crib or extra-bed availability, so if you're traveling with a baby, ask the resort before you book.
December through April is the dry and most expensive season. September and October bring more rain, coincide with the peak of hurricane season and have the lowest rates. Sargassum changes by year and by week, so check reports a few days before you travel.
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana holds a 4.6 out of 5 on Google and an 8.9 out of 10 on Booking.com. It's not the perfect resort, and the points to check are laid out above, but for families with kids of any age who also want an adults-only resort a few steps away, it's one of the best options you can find today in the entire Punta Cana area.
