A water park at your resort sounds perfect, but they are not all worth the same: some resorts are far from the beach, others go quiet early at night, and others charge like luxury without being luxury. This ranking puts ten Punta Cana resorts with a water park in order based on what you get in return: what the beach is like, what happens at night, what is really included and where each one falls short. That way you can pick based on how your family travels.
For years you searched for it as Bahia Principe Fantasia. Since April the chain has rebranded it under its new family line, Explore, so if the old name comes up empty, this is it. What did not change is the castle: a themed water park with slides and splash features built for young kids. It shares facilities with the other family resorts in the complex, which fill with music and shows at night. It works for families with little ones who put the water park ahead of the beach.
If you search by the old name, check that the listing says Explore Legend before you book.
Check rates for this resortUp next is the newest resort on the list, with a hidden catch.
Lopesan Splash Cove opened in July this year and sits about a half mile from the ocean, so you will not see the beach from your room. You enjoy it at the complex's beach club, the same one used by its sister resort, Lopesan Costa Bavaro. In exchange, the water is right at home. It has its own water park, Aquatica, with slides, tunnels and bridges, plus a wave pool and access to a second water park inside the complex. At night everything connects through a pedestrian promenade with restaurants, bars and a casino, no taxi needed. It suits the family that wants to try a brand-new resort and walk to dinner.
It's a brand-new resort, so compare the latest guest reviews on each platform before you book.
Check rates for this resortNext is the kids' favorite, even if its score doesn't keep up.
Its Booking.com score is 6.9, the lowest in this ranking, and it drops to 6.6 for value, although cleanliness and room comfort hold up well. That is why it is not higher. What it does deliver is the kids' fantasy: Nickelodeon characters every day, the famous slime bath, and Aqua Nick, a water park with slides, water jets and a lazy river. It has 460 suites, some with swim-out access, plus themed villas, one inspired by SpongeBob. Dining ranges from Italian to Asian and Mediterranean. It is for the family that travels for the characters and accepts paying for them.
Read the most recent guest reviews before you book: cleanliness scores well, value for money is where guests split.
Check rates for this resortChange of pace: this water park is open to guests of only five resorts.
It's called Splash Water World, RIU's water park in Punta Cana, and only guests of five RIU resorts get in. This is one of those five, and the one that best combines water park, beach and nightlife: the park is about a half mile from the resort, roughly a ten-minute walk. Most attractions have a 4-foot minimum height, and drinks are included inside the park, but there is no food service, so eat before you go. Parents get loungers and sun areas. The resort is all-inclusive 24 hours a day, sits on Arena Gorda beach and has a kids' club and a teen club. At night the RIU Party takes over, so if you want nightlife, you will find it here.
When you book, confirm that your rate includes access to Splash Water World.
Check rates for this resortBefore we get to the rest of the resorts, here's what to do outside the resort.
Tours outside the resort are not part of the all-inclusive plan, and from Punta Cana you have the best of the eastern Dominican Republic. If you leave them for the resort desk, you pay more, lose half a morning in line, and in peak season the best ones are already sold out. Book ahead, with free cancellation on many options and hotel pickup.
Entry to El Dorado Water Park with transportation from Punta Cana: slides, pools and a full day of water fun for the kids.
Full-day trip to Saona Island: white-sand beach, turquoise water and a swim stop.
El Dorado Water Park, a full day on Saona Island and a catamaran with snorkeling, with hotel pickup on many tours.
Now, a huge water park that closes earlier than you'd think.
The water park opens at nine in the morning and closes at five in the afternoon, so if you travel with kids, plan your day around that schedule. Inside there is a wave pool, slides and tubes, in one of the largest resort water parks in the Caribbean. The resort is not right on the sand: Bavaro Beach is a short walk away. It has its own casino and spa, and dining covers Italian, Mexican, Asian and seafood, plus an international buffet. The kids' club and non-motorized water sports, like kayaking and snorkeling, are also included in the all-inclusive plan. It is one of the most affordable on this list. A great pick for family thrills without a luxury price tag.
Plan your day around the water park hours: nine in the morning to five in the afternoon.
Check rates for this resortOn to the Macao giant, where the party costs extra.
Its nightclub, ORO, charges a cover and drinks there are extra, even though the rest of the resort is all-inclusive. It is the detail almost nobody mentions. Everything else is city-scale: nearly two thousand rooms on Macao Beach, a casino, bowling, an arcade, mini golf, an escape room, and kids' and teen clubs. Its water park, Rockaway Bay, packs 26 slides split between kids, teens and adults. It fits families with older kids and groups who want a water park by day and nightlife without leaving the resort.
Before you book, check which specialty dinners, golf and nightclub access cost extra.

First it was Dreams Punta Cana, then Jewel Punta Cana, and in 2025 it reopened under this name after a complete transformation, with a water park built from scratch. It is not new construction, but inside it almost feels like it, and it holds an 8.5 on Booking.com, though that score carries reviews from its former names. The water park has a lazy river, tube slides and a splash zone for the little ones, next to one of the largest free-form pools in the country. None of its à la carte restaurants require reservations, and there is a kids' club and a full spa. A good fit for families who want high quality without a high price tag.
Compare reviews from the last few months: the resort changed names and operator in 2025.

The public access road to Macao Beach runs between the resort and the sand, so you cross it on foot, and the beach is shared with buggy excursions arriving from outside. Add the distance: it is about a forty-minute drive from the airport. Inside, the resort makes up for it with 500 suites, some villas with private pools, and a water park with slides and a lazy river. À la carte restaurants cover French, Mexican, Italian and Asian cuisine, and there is a kids' club, a teen club and an adults-only pool in the Preferred Club category. Premium drinks, room service and Wi-Fi are included in the all-inclusive plan, no wristbands. It works for families who want a full-service resort, away from the bustle of Bavaro.
If you travel with kids, confirm which activities and clubs are included in your room category.
Check rates for this resortAlmost at the top, a water park that was a construction site not long ago.
It was under construction for quite a while, and now it is up and running, with seven slides and a splash zone for kids; some slides have height limits. This resort used to be called Now Larimar, and after its renovation it moved to the Dreams brand. It sits on Bavaro Beach, a little over a twenty-minute drive from the airport, next to Secrets Royal Beach, an adults-only resort. Its size is another plus: it is far more manageable than the giants on this list, and you won't spend the day walking. It holds an 8.8 on Booking.com, one of the highest scores on this list, with only one resort above it. It's the sweet spot: a water park for the kids, Bavaro Beach for everyone, and a resort where you won't get lost.
The water park runs from ten in the morning to six in the afternoon, so there's time for both the beach and the slides.

At the very top: a resort with an extra door for adults.
Guests 18 and older staying here can use the facilities, restaurants and bars of the adults-only resort next door, Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana: the kids get their water park and the parents get an escape without leaving the complex. That water park has a lazy river with a grotto and slides, though it has a 4-foot minimum height, so the smallest kids will have to wait. It sits on Juanillo Beach, inside Cap Cana, a few minutes from the airport, with 375 oceanfront suites. It is the highest-rated on the list, with an 8.9 on Booking.com, and also the priciest, especially on peak dates. If the budget allows, it is the safest bet in Punta Cana for a water park resort.
